Mary Eileen McDonnell is an American actress, who has performed on television, film as well as on stage. She was born on the 28th of April 1952. McDonnell was awarded an Academy Award nomination for her character in Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also very well known for her performance as the President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica which was the president's wife on Independence Day and for her starring role in Donnie Darko as the titular character's mother.
